{"id":21224,"date":"2018-10-31T11:29:37","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T09:29:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alexandramichali.com\/?page_id=21224"},"modified":"2020-04-04T15:34:35","modified_gmt":"2020-04-04T12:34:35","slug":"kouros-from-life-2018","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/alexandramichali.com\/en\/exhibitions\/kouros-from-life-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Kouros\u2026 from life (2018)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With this project, I attempted to communicate, to the extent that I am able, the emotions I felt in the time I spent drawing and studying at the Museum.\u00a0 My initial fear and awe gradually turned into joy, into intellectual and aesthetic elation, as I discovered the rhythm, the meter, the balance and, at the same time, the freedom that are concealed within this type of ancient art.<\/p>\n<p>And so it was that the rhythmical and almost mathematical way of developing the decorative motifs of geometric vases<sup>1<\/sup>, the sculptural concentration and expressiveness of the bronze geometric figurines<sup>2<\/sup>, and the marble tenderness of the youthful flesh of the archaic Kouroi<sup>3<\/sup> were incorporated almost unconsciously into my work, and interacted with contemporary youths. A series of works was thus created, which attempts to render the Spring of life through painting!
